Chess
Toowoomba East State School Chess Club is held weekly during the lunchtime. The club participates in the Toowoomba Individual Chess Championships and the Toowoomba Teams Chess Championships.
The players can be either boys or girls from years two to six. Special consideration can be given to younger players. Players can be beginners or experienced. The students play and learn the rules and moves of chess in a supportive environment.
Robotics
In 2023, Toowoomba East State School had a robotics program for interested year six students. The program involved programming Mindstorm Lego EV3 robots. This culminated in the students competing at the regional Robo Cup in July and the State Robo Cup at the University of Queensland in August.
Due to resourcing and time constraints, numbers are limited. The successful applicants are selected based on expression of interest and commitment to the program.
The program is run during lunchtimes.
